China’s construction machinery industry is entering a new stage of electrification in 2026, moving from early pilot projects toward large-scale adoption and supply-chain integration. Electric mining trucks, port equipment and integrated solar-storage-charging systems are increasingly being deployed, reshaping equipment applications and the wider industrial ecosystem.

Against this backdrop, bauma SHANGHAI 2026 is expanding its New Energy Technology Zone across two exhibition venues, covering electric machinery, power batteries, energy storage, charging and battery-swapping equipment, electric drive systems and integrated energy services.

Market demand continues to accelerate. According to the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, major manufacturers sold 25,445 electric wheel loaders in January–June 2026, up 82.4% year on year, while electric excavator sales reached 321 units, an increase of 129%. Electric forklifts, aerial work platforms and other new-energy equipment are also gaining market share.

The shift is also moving beyond individual machines toward integrated solutions. Mining sites, construction projects and ports are increasingly demanding customized batteries, high-power charging and battery-swapping systems, energy storage and integrated energy management. This is driving closer collaboration among equipment manufacturers, component suppliers and energy-service companies.

At bauma SHANGHAI 2026, major industry players including XCMG, SANY, ZOOMLION, SDLG and LIUGONG, together with companies such as CATL, EVE Power and Star Charge, will showcase technologies and solutions across the new-energy value chain.

The exhibition will also feature forums focusing on electrification, hybrid power, hydrogen energy and zero-carbon construction, providing a platform for industry leaders to discuss technology development, business models and global market opportunities.
With its large exhibition scale, international buyer network and global media resources, bauma SHANGHAI 2026 is expected to become an important platform for new-energy companies seeking to enter the construction machinery sector and expand into overseas markets.
